Your wedding day is coming quicker than you thought possible. You have probably already started playing around with hair and makeup so you know what works well in all the different scenarios of your special day. But, have you thought about your skin? You don't want to wait till the last minute to prep your skin for the big day either. Get started now so that you have the best canvas to work with. Here are the top 5 ideas for treatments.
1. Facial Enhancements
If you are about six months to a year out from your wedding, now is a good time to start working with facial enhancements like fillers. You can get your lips done, enhance your cheekbones, and even get a more defined chin or jawline. Using Hyaluronic fillers will help reduce the appearance of fine lines or wrinkles by using a material that naturally occurs in the skin. This will help the skin more easily retain water and create a more plump and hydrated complexion. By starting early enough before the big day, there will be enough time to try it, tweak it, and even dissolve the filler if not perfect. Going to someone reputable is very important to getting the results you are hoping for. Make sure your injector has years of experience and is able to treat the face as a whole, has a good aesthetic eye, and make sure you review their outcomes before making your final decision.
2. Botox or Dysport
Start using either Botox or Dysport about three to six months before your wedding. Neuromodulators such as Botox and Dysport can banish those frown lines and crow's feet by temporarily reducing muscle activity and smoothing the area. This can be done in a completely natural way that does not affect the movement of the rest of your face, and you don't look frozen in the pictures. I particularly like creating a brow lift with these products, and ever so slightly softening the crows feet. Some movement around the eyes is essential to a natural, beaming smile! A "Nefertiti Lift'' by injecting tiny amounts of botox can tighten a jawline, and create a beautiful crisp lower face. Be sure to talk to a professional and find out which treatment is best for you.
3. Chemical Peels, Lasers, and Microneedling
Improve the appearance of our skin with a wide range of lasers, microneedling and chemical peels. It may take some experimenting to figure out what works best for you to get the perfect glowing face. For that reason, start your treatments a good 4-6 months before the wedding. Most lasers and chemical peels and even microneedling treatments are done in a series of 3-4 treatments with results improving each time. Get your skin looking polished and refreshed with minimal downtime.
4. Facials
There is a wide array of facials available to improve your skin quality, shrink and clean pores, exfoliate, and generate that awesome glow that is much needed for the big day. You should start 2-3 months before. My favorite: monthly Hydrafacial's with personalized ingredients that are infused into your skin.
5. Skincare
Quality skincare should be part of your daily routine well before your engagement and wedding. It is important to remember that the sun is a big culprit in damaging your skin. You need to keep your skin protected from the sun as often as possible. Using good sunscreen on a daily basis will help keep your skin tone even, prevent premature aging and wrinkles, and preserve your youthful appearance. Pair this sunscreen with a good antioxidant in the morning (I love Vitamin C), and a Retinol at night, and you will be on your way to healthier, smoother skin.
