What if your laser treatment is doing more than you can see? 🧬

We already know that laser treatments can improve pigmentation, texture, sun damage and stimulate the remodeling processes that improve skin quality.

But a fascinating 2026 human study published in Scientific Reports looked deeper — at the epigenetic level.

Researchers treated one side of the face in 22 adults with three sessions of a 1940-nm non-ablative fractional laser and tracked changes for six months. They found progressive changes in DNA methylation — chemical marks involved in gene regulation — in pathways associated with epidermal differentiation, tissue repair and extracellular-matrix organization.

And here’s the part that caught our attention:

Of 168,215 DNA methylation sites showing strong signals associated with both aging and treatment, 83.9% changed in the opposite direction following laser treatment compared with aging.

That does NOT mean we’ve proven lasers reverse biological aging.

It does suggest something incredibly interesting: certain laser treatments may influence some of the molecular patterns associated with aging skin, not simply its appearance.

And that’s exactly why our philosophy at VBoutique has increasingly shifted from simply “correcting” aging to thinking about skin quality, regeneration, collagen banking and long-term maintenance.

What if GLP-1s are doing more than helping you lose weight? 👀

One of the most interesting areas of GLP-1 research right now has nothing to do with the number on the scale.

It has to do with inflammation—and your skin.

A 2026 study of patients with obesity and psoriasis found that 44.4% of patients receiving GLP-1 therapy achieved clear or almost-clear skin, compared with just 12.1% of patients who weren’t receiving GLP-1 therapy. Greater weight loss was also associated with a faster skin response. 🔬

And this isn’t an isolated finding.

A new 2026 systematic review looked at 26 studies and found that GLP-1 medications including semaglutide, liraglutide, exenatide and tirzepatide have been associated with improvements in psoriasis severity—particularly in patients with obesity and/or type 2 diabetes. Researchers are investigating whether this is related not only to weight loss, but also to the anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects of GLP-1 signaling.

Then there’s the gut–skin axis. 🦠 ↔️ 🧬

We’re learning more about the complex communication between the gut microbiome, metabolism, immune system, hormones, nervous system and skin. Conditions including psoriasis—and potentially rosacea—may be influenced by much more than what’s happening on the surface.

Important: We do NOT yet have evidence that GLP-1 medications are a treatment for rosacea. That’s a fascinating area for future research and it reinforces something we believe strongly at VBoutique:

Also known as female or male pattern hair loss, this is largely driven by genetics and sensitivity of the hair follicles to androgens. Over time, follicles can gradually miniaturize, producing finer, shorter hairs and progressive thinning.
